David Askew
Chairman
I’m current chairman of the BDWCA and have been a committee member for 10 years or so. I have recently retired as Director of Science at our national nature conservation agency - and spent most of my working life as an agricultural adviser and field ecologist. I came to bird carving 25 years ago after carving rocking horses - when I discovered I could combine my interest in birds, working in wood and painting. When I am not carving birds I am either bird watching, carving moths, print making, fell running, following football or travelling.
