Hi all
Have a favourite resource?  Maybe a technical reference book, a pictorial compendium, birdsong CD, or…… you know the thing, can put it down, use it all the time, has stood by you when times were bad, or simply has given you pleasure.  Well then, stop keeping it to yourself and list it here! I'll go first!

'Arsefoot', 'Horse Musher', 'Water Colly', 'Watchdog of the Marshes'.  Just some of the many colloquial names of birds and waterfowl in this book.  An absolute gem of facinating bird names, their geographical and cultural origins, legend and lore.  A breath of fresh air in the naming and recognition of birds.

I am trying to trace an article by Ted Oxley on making bird legs,
not the one without solder. There were diagrams of the legs and feet and instructions on filing the claws. Can any one help. I did have the article but on moving to spain mislaid.
I am glad that the association seems to be holding its own, out here I am in a minority of one. Thank goodness for David Clews.

Hi Geoff, Good to hear that you are carving. I've contacted Ted and he said the only article on making bird legs was the one without solder but David Tippey's book "Carving Realistic Birds" includes feet.  I don't think Pintail Carving have any copies left you will need to search a second-hand one out on Amazon.

Best of luck Smiley

Hi Geoff,
If you can let me have your e-mail address, I will let you have a pdf file of how to make birds legs as refered to by Mike Bowles.

Best wishes

Hi Geoff
Whereabouts in Spain are you?
I've got an apartment in L'Escala in Catalonia and hope to spend more time there in the future so I'm interested in tracking down any wildfowl carvers in Spain  Smiley
Cheers, Pam
