I've just discovered iSpot
It's run through the Open University and the aim is to get more people interested in wildlife and to provide a friendly forum for talking about recent sightings etc. One of its most useful functions is to provide expert ID - if you see a bird, animal, plant, insect, fungus or whatever, take a photo and send it in for an alarmingly quick and accurate ID! I'm interested in all forms of nature and having a camera built into my mobile phone it's so easy to take a snap or two of any new or interesting subject and post it on the http://www.ispot.org.uk website. I was impressed with the speedy results. Why not try it out for your self? Mike |

I know that a large number of you rely on bird photographs for getting ideas for your carvings.
Let's face it one good bird photograph is far better than a drawing or painting, Have a look at the following web site. It contains some of the best bird photography that I have ever seen. www.stevenround-birdphotography.com The number of clear, detailed photographs is amazing even birds in flight are very sharp. Best wishes Harry H |

Hi Bob
Welcome to our Message Board We're slowly managing to encourage more of our members to participate on the Board and it's great to get contributors from outside the UK.You can post on the main board whenever you want, but just to let you know that if you want to join in with the VRG (Virtual Regional Group) then you would need to become a member of the BDWCA. Although we're a UK Association we also have members in Europe, the US and even in Australia, and it isn't expensive - 20 pounds sterling which is approx 40 US dollars per year. For that you also get three issues of our membership magazine - Wingspan - sent to you in the mail. It's 28 full colour pages and I think you'd find it interesting - obviously as the Editor I'm bound to say that, of course ![]() So, if you're interested in joining just drop me an email to subscriptions@bdwca.org.uk and I'll send you an email link that allows you to join via an online payment. Cheers Pam |

I would love to participate, learn and share ideas. I tried to pull your email off the post ID to let you know. I was unable to do so,and that is why I notified you via this message board. Hope that is OK.
Many Thanks, Brian |

Hallo Brian
welcome, nice to "meet" you here. As I hope you'll find on our site, I run the VRG - which is our online carving group, we meet up once a month and have some good chats about carving. We are quite a european group, which does lead to different species to north america! Send me an email if you are interested in joining us. Also if you'd like to see more British carvings, have a look at the link to our recent show at Bakewell (buttons on the left of the main BDWCA site), Harry did a great job taking the pics, and Mike for uploading them to the website. Please don't tell us if your wife finds a cure for your disease, we like being infected! best wishes Sally |

Hello everyone,
My name is Brian Ballard and I am a carver and waterfowl hunter from the Midwest of the U.S. (Michigan). The site is excellent and it is always great to see fresh decoy ideas and species from other parts of the world created by those also infected with the disease (as my wife refers to carving). I look forward to seeing your ideas and creations, Regards, Brian |
